About Our Program
Sensory, motor, perceptual and language skills are challenged through materials and hands on activities which are both child-centered and teacher directed. Work is planned which emphasizes the process rather than the product. Based on the theory that children learn through play and new experiences, classroom activities are varied and include a balance of structure, free choice, indoor and outdoor, active and quiet times. Emphasis is on developing manners and social skills in a respectful environment. Daily lesson plans are posted in each room(a month at a glance) and are available for parents to take home. Daily activities are posted on our "What we did today" board.
Parent Communication
Parents are encouraged to communicate daily with their child's teacher. We have an "open door" policy and encourage parents to call whenever they have a question, comment, or suggestion. Monthly newsletters are distributed and parents are notified of all celebrations and special visitors. We welcome parents and friends to participate in our program (sharing a special talent, occupation, reading a book, assisting with craft/art projects, cooking or a science project, etc.) Transition updates and annual child evaluations are available. Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled each February.
Special Events
We celebrate all holidays and birthdays, host a Grandparent's Tea, a first day of school picnic, and celebrate an annual graduation ceremony.
